‘Make and Be’ is our new pilot cultural mediation programme in partnership with Mother Tongues. Mother Tongues is a social enterprise working to promote multilingualism and intercultural dialogue in Ireland. This collaborative project involves a series of creative family workshops on Friday afternoons from April –June facilitated by artist Nasrin Golden, who speaks English and Farsi. The project is one that particularly welcomes international participants and encourages participants to speak in the language that they feel most comfortable with. Within this education pilot project, we hope to encourage families from international communities within the DCC area to develop a relationship with the Hugh Lane Gallery and our programmes.
To date, the project has welcomed families whose spoken languages (aside from English) include Farsi, Arabic, Serbian, Urdu, Northern Kurdish and Chinese.
