All Aglow (2023)
Pianist and composer Xenia Pestova Bennett presents a spell-binding project as featured in Belfast International Arts Festival, Unesco Week of Sound and on BBC Radio 3 Night Tracks. All Aglow takes inspiration from coastal bioluminescence (a range of glowing behaviours exhibited by marine life and bacteria) to explore resonance, historic texts, women’s voices in spoken word interviews, memory, improvisation and the environment. The piano sound is gently manipulated with objects salvaged from the sea, while nostalgic analogue synthesisers and field recordings create a mysterious aural flavour, adding elements of sonic time-travel and blurring stylistic boundaries.
