  • Sir Hugh Lane Patrons Circle

    In a ground-breaking vision for the arts in Ireland, Sir Hugh Lane established the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art in Dublin in 1908 with an exceptional and unique collection of modern art . The gallery’s collection has grown significantly and has been fortunate in receiving prestigious and generous donations throughout its history. Our patrons support and donations help us care for and preserve this renowned collection for future generations as well as fund new acquisitions, conservation projects, curatorial positions, our dynamic exhibitions programme and ambitious acquisitions.

    Our patrons will enjoy getting to know the collection, with behind the scenes private Director’s tours, insights into conservation projects, private views, and tickets for our renowned [email protected] concerts as well as an annual patrons evening reception

  • Donations of Artworks

    The Gallery is an “approved body” under Section 1003 of the Taxes Consolidation Act, 1997 and has received outstanding artworks for the collection under this act which have added significantly to the prestige of the collection.

    Tax Relief for the Donation of Heritage Items Section 1003 of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997 provides that persons who donate heritage items can credit 80% of the value of these items against their liabilities for certain taxes. The taxes covered by the relief are Income Tax, Corporation Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Gift Tax and Inheritance Tax.

    Throughout its history, Hugh Lane Gallery has been very fortunate in receiving legacies and bequests from enlightened patrons of the arts. These assist us in our programmes and projects including our outreach education projects with diverse communities throughout Dublin.
