Lawrence Abu Hamdan is an artist and audio investigator whose work explores auditory consciousness and memory within the law and human rights. He has worked as a sound expert with Forensic Architecture, a research agency that uncovers human rights violations, publish findings and make it available for legal proceedings by using creative methods. Walled Unwalled is a 20-minute performance-video installation consisting of a series of performances and monologues staged inside Funkhaus Berlin, the former radio broadcasting centre of the German Democratic Republic. The work explores the permeability of architecture, linking a series of narratives derived from legal cases that revolved around evidence that was heard or experienced through walls.
