Discover more about our collection through our series of fascinating recorded talks.

The Eve of St Agnes by Harry Clarke in the Hugh Lane Gallery’s collection is the subject of our Coffee Conversation talk with Jessica O’Donnell.

In this talk, Jessica O’Donnell discuss the distinctive imagery used by Harry Clarke in the Eve of St Agnes window by closely relating it to John Keats’s poem; she also discusses how Clarke looked to many visual sources including contemporary culture and how this awareness of international developments puts him to the fore among Irish artists engaging with modernism; we also find out more about Harold Jacob, the person who commissioned this window; as well as how the stained glass window entered a public collection and was therefore saved for the nation.
