A visit to Francis Bacon’s Studio at the Hugh Lane Gallery gives you a unique opportunity to experience the working process of one of the twentieth century’s greatest artists. Born in Dublin in 1909, Bacon grew up in county Kildare. He left home at the age of sixteen and eventually settled in London where he established himself as one of the leading international artists of his generation. Francis Bacon died in Madrid in 1992. This resource provides teachers and students with information about the Francis Bacon Studio at the Hugh Lane Gallery including the relocation of the studio and its contents from London to Dublin.
