A series of Thursday evening events featuring art workshops, mindfulness, music, food, drinks, free exhibition tours and more!
So many cultural institutions, attractions, fun workshops and art classes are only available to us between 9-5pm – but what about the people in full-time education or work?
We want to give everyone a chance to visit the gallery and we have put together an exciting programme of events, exhibitions and workshops so nobody misses out.
Hugh Lane Gallery is thrilled to announce the continuation of ‘After Hours’ in 2025, an exciting series of evening events in the gallery. From art workshops to live music, delicious food and drinks and expert exhibition tours, these evenings promise a vibrant cultural experience.
We are open until 8:30pm on Thursdays from 9th January, with Admission Free.

Brian Maguire: La Grande Illusion (Note: this exhibition will not be available to view between 7-8pm this evening 17th October)
Already receiving huge acclaim, this exhibition opened just last week. - St. Brigid’s cross making Workshop | 18.00 – 18.50 and 19.00 – 19.50 | Tickets €12 includes one free drink, Book here: Get together for some crafting and a drink to tap into our pagan roots and celebrate the end of winter and beginning of spring with us in Hugh Lane Gallery’s gorgeous café. Join us to make St. Brigid’s crosses in preparation for St. Brigid’s Day, or Imbolc, which is celebrated on the 1st of February, and marks the beginning of Spring in Ireland. No prior experience needed.
- Gentle Yoga Flow in the Sculpture Hall with Lucia Fabbro | 18.30 – 19.30 | Tickets €12 includes a glass of herbal tea , Book here: Join us for a peaceful yoga session designed to restore balance and harmony in both body and mind. This class combines asana (physical postures) and pranayama (breath control) into a sequence of gentle movements, deeply connected with the breath. Guided breath retentions and focused movements will work at a deep subtle level to help you release negative emotions and cultivate positivity and clarity. - Basking Shark Fishing Documentary Screening – with live musical score | 18.30 – 20.00 | Tickets €15 includes one free drink, Book here:Join us for a special screening and live score performance ‘Achill Island, Basking Shark Fishermen’ from The Achill Sound.A beautiful film, managing to sensitively impart Achill’s shark fishing history through oral accounts, music and song and describing the battle for economic survival, all amidst the stunning sea, land and mountains of the island.

- Sound Bath in Sculpture Hall | 18.30 – 20.00 | Tickets €20, Book here: Due to popular demand and overwhelmingly positive feedback, sound artist and sound therapy practitioner Chloe Mc Hugh of Sonas Sounds, returns to the Hugh Lane Gallery Sculpture Hall for a sound bath experience not to be missed. Participants are asked to please bring along your own yoga mat and water. Suitable for +18 years only.
