Give your clothes a second life! Join The Useless Project for a hands-on workshop in creative mending, darning & patching.

Got a tear in your favourite jeans? A hole in your cozy socks? Or maybe you just want to learn how to give your clothes a second life with some creative mending? Join The Useless Project for an evening of sustainable stitching at Hugh Lane Gallery.

This hands-on workshop will guide you through the fundamentals of patching and darning, teaching you how to repair, reinforce, and reimagine your well-loved garments—because extending the life of your clothes means reducing waste and lowering your carbon footprint!

What to Expect:

  • 45-Minute Basics Session: Learn the fundamentals of darning and patching on scrap fabric, getting familiar with techniques like visible mending and strengthening worn-out areas.
  • Hands-On Repair: Bring along an item of clothing you’d like to mend, and get personalized advice as you put your new skills into practice.
  • Creative Expression: Whether you prefer an invisible repair or a bold patch that tells a story, we’ll guide you in making your mends uniquely yours.

No prior sewing experience? No problem! This workshop is perfect for total beginners and anyone looking to hone their repair skills. A welcome drink on arrival (alcohol or non-alcohol options are available) and all materials will be provided—you just need to bring one or two pieces of clothing you’d like to work on.

✨ Here, the focus is all about up-skilling, as opposed to landfilling. ✨

Tickets – €15
