Art workshops at Hugh Lane Gallery

Immerse yourself in art, creativity and fun in this three-day camp for neurodiverse children and their parents, with artists Tamao Oka and Michelle Hall.

Neuro-spectacular! Summer Camp for Neurodiverse 6-11 year olds
Tuesday 12 August, Wednesday 13 August, Thursday 14 August; 10.30am-12.30pm

Tuesday 12 August
Have you ever seen Harry Clarke’s stained glass at the Hugh Lane Gallery? It’s a beautiful, fantastical piece. The characters are dressed in costumes with sea creature motifs, and it seems as if they are in a palace under the sea. Join artist Tamao Oka for a workshop inspired by the theatrical costume of Harry Clarke’s Eve of St Agnes. Create hats and crowns after visiting the artwork in the gallery!

Wednesday 13 August
Join artist Michelle Hall for an exploration of ‘The Dream Pool Intervals’! We’ll look at the animals within the work and you’ll create your own artwork through a range of materials, experimenting with colour and fabric just like the artist!

Thursday 14 August
Revisit Harry Clarke’s stained glass with artist Tamao Oka and create your own vibrant artworks inspired by his windows! Finish the day by creating a film with your handmade costumes and colourful artworks.

Want to explore other media? There are art tables for free drawing, wall art or clay. You can choose what you’d like to try throughout the week! There are also quiet spaces for individual work for those who prefer to work independently.

Fee: €40, materials are provided. Advance booking required via Eventbrite. One ticket includes one child and one parent/ care-giver. There will be a maximum of 4 children, with their parent, attending this summer camp. No experience necessary!

We will send a social story through to participants who sign up.
