To mark Poetry Day Ireland, Grace Wilentz will lead an ekphrastic poetry workshop. Broadly defined, ekphrastic poetry seeks to render another work of art in words. The term comes from a Greek expression for description. In this workshop we will explore approaches to transforming the visual into the verbal. After reading and discussing examples of ekphrastic poetry, participants will spend time looking at gallery highlights on display, before experimenting with writing an original ekphrastic poem.
