Join us in celebration of St. Brigid’s Day for a lecture at the Hugh Lane Gallery. Barbara O’ Connell will lead an illustrated lecture, celebrating female artists in the collection, such as Sarah Purser, Mary Swanzy, Manie Jellet, and Evie Hone and their pioneering modernism within the canon of modern art. Exploring some of their techniques and styles that place them at the forefront of the development of Irish art, we will look at these innovative women and discuss the historical context in which they emerged.
