This talk with Dr Anne Cormican explores Hugh Lane’s bold and impassioned vision for the development of art in Ireland. Through images of works chosen by Lane for a gallery of modern art and those which continue to enter the collection, in addition to works resulting from his appointment as Director of the National Gallery of Ireland, Lane’s singular and ongoing contribution to art in Ireland will be examined.
