This course for adults will provide practical techniques and processes for developing original poems.
Art in the Anthropocene: poetry workshop on Ailbhe Ní Bhriain’s The Dream Pool Intervals
Thursdays 17, 24 and 31 July 2025, 5.15pm – 7.45 pm
Led by poet Grace Wilentz, this three-week creative writing workshop for adults will engage with The Dream Pool Intervals, an exciting new exhibition of work by Ailbhe Ní Bhriain, whose practice meditates on climate change and “the spectre of loss haunting the contemporary imagination.”
In each workshop, participants will consider and discuss a piece of writing related to the exhibition’s central themes, and spend time in the galleries with the artworks, before being guided to write original poems in response.
While no prior experience is necessary, all will be expected to participate actively in discussions and take part in writing exercises. In return, you can expect to come away with new poems, and discover creative ways of paying sustained poetic attention to our transforming planet, its cycles and its shifts.
Fee: €75, advance booking essential via Eventbrite.
