Join moving image artist Helena Gouveia Monteiro to explore the medium of 16mm film, in this experimental workshop.
In this 16mm cameraless film workshop, we will explore direct animation techniques and introduce participants to the profusion of visual effects that can be achieved by drawing and painting on analog film. Using black and clear 16mm leader, participants will manipulate the film material to create short individual film loops using techniques such as film emulsion scratching, painting with opaque and transparent materials, collage, cutouts, and application of organic materials to the film surface.
