Dominick Sorace
“I am drawn to the grey areas between rationalizing and sensualizing experiences, whether personal, collective, past, or present. At the heart of my practice lies the exploration of the authenticity of emotions, the imprints left by beliefs, inhabiting a body, and the tensions created by gender and sexuality.”
Sorace’s approach to media is intuitive and guided by their symbolic or sensory qualities. Clay embodies fragility, transparency evokes the intangible, water signifies purity, and wax captures the permanence of imprints. This openness often leads him to unconventional materials, allowing their inherent properties to shape the work’s direction. Photography remains a constant in his practice, creating series that explore the more sensual dimensions of his ideas.
Domnick Sorace is an Italian/Maltese multimedia artist based in Dublin since 2018. He holds a B.A. First Class (Honours) Degree in Fine Arts from the MCAST Institute of Creative Arts, Malta. Some of his recent achievements include Boarders at RUA RED South Dublin Arts Centre in 2024, Judges’ Choice Award in 2024, Culture Moves Europe: Individual Mobility for Artists Fund by the Goethe Institute in 2024, The Assembly at R Gallery, Malta in 2024, The Solstice Diversity Award by the Solstice Arts Centre in 2024, LUSUS at The Courthouse Gallery, Ennistymon in 2023, and The Individual Artist Bursary Award from South Dublin City Council in 2023.
In 2025, as of yet Domnick will be presenting a solo exhibition through the Judges’ Choice Award at RUA RED South Dublin Arts Centre, and conduct a residency through the Culture Moves Europe: Individual Mobility for Artists Fund in Arte Studio Ginestrelle, Italy.

Basic Talks is a series of talks with leading contemporary practitioners, taking place at the Hugh Lane Gallery. Curated by Basic Space in partnership with Hugh Lane Gallery, BASIC TALKS is a platform for lectures, workshops, presentations, and performances. Speakers include artists, curators, writers, and critics who will generate discourse on producing, framing and exhibiting art. BASIC TALKS is a collaboration between Basic Space and the Hugh Lane Gallery, exploring alternatives in the dissemination of contemporary art and its discourses.
