Join us for a Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) tour of Hugh Lane Gallery with artist and curator Claire Halpin. Claire, a VTS practitioner and educator, will lead an exploration of work from Ailbhe Ní Bhriain’s exhibition, as well as other works in the collection. VTS is a research-based teaching methodology based on the work of cognitive psychologist, Abigail Housen and museum educator Philip Yenawine that supports learner-centred thinking and feeling when looking at art objects. It is a practice that encourages tour participants to establish their own opinions and develop ideas through discussion with a facilitator leading. VTS image discussions have been proven to sharpen how we see, think, communicate and collaborate for people of all ages.
