Hugh Lane Culture Club

Join us for a mindful exploration and slow looking of artworks on display in a Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) tour of Hugh Lane Gallery with artist Kathryn Maguire. Kathryn, a VTS practitioner, will lead an exploration of work from the Hugh Lane Gallery’s permanent collection, as well as temporary exhibition spaces. VTS supports learner-centred thinking and feeling when looking at art objects and is sometimes also known as slow-looking. It encourages participants to establish their own opinions and develop ideas through discussion. These discussions sharpen how we see, think, communicate and collaborate through focused prompts and gentle guidance. There will be an opportunity to connect with the artworks in a relaxed and supportive environment. Share your thoughts with others or simply enjoy the silence of viewing.
