Join us for a talk with Yseult O’Driscoll exploring some of the Modern and contemporary prints in the Hugh Lane Galley Collection. Alongside paintings and sculpture, the Hugh Lane Gallery has a very interesting and extensive collection of prints covering a wide range of different techniques, and reflecting different artistic interests and preoccupations. The collection reflects the use of printmaking as a means of artistic expression by both Irish and international artists since the founding of the gallery in 1908. This Culture Club, will explore the Gallery’s print collection, and the various ways in which its artists have used printmaking in their practice – in particular, The Centenary Print Collection, commissioned by the Gallery in 2008 from some of Ireland’s best known artists to mark the centenary of its founding.
