Film still -An Asian Ghost Story

Join us for a screening of An Asian Ghost Story, 2023, 37min, directed by Bo Wang

This screening is programmed and presented by artist and filmmaker Helena Gouveia Monteiro, who will moderate a post-screening conversation.

A film about haunting memories of Asia’s late 20th-century modernization. The story departs from a 1965 United States embargo on the hair trade, known as the “Communist Hair Ban”. Yet, in every wig resides a ghost from the imperial past.

The screening will be followed by a conversation accompanied by A Sip of Mao, “a mango-based cocktail to blend together 60s’ passion, dialectical materialism, and embodiment of historical consciousness.” https://www.bo-wang.net/sip.html

Free, book via Eventbrite or come on the day subject to availability.
