As part of her project Municipal Walker, artist Lian Bell warmly invites you join her on the second iteration of the Sarah Purser Municipal Walk.
Municipal Walker is a mechanism to consider civic responsibility, and how our bodies attune with urban energetics, by delineating and maintaining significant walking routes as a service to the city. The Sarah Purser Municipal Walk will be added to the work roster of the Municipal Walker, and will be maintained annually for three years.
On Friday 19 September, we will walk together from the gallery across the city to the sites of three significant locations in Purser’s life: her homes at Harcourt Terrace and Mespil House, and the workshop of An Túr Gloine. The event will last approximately 2 hours. We will walk for about 90 minutes, and then have a cup of tea together.
This is not a walking tour; there will be some fragments of knowledge shared collectively, and the Municipal Walker will offer gentle tactics of attending to the charged atmospheres of urban life. For those who have no previous knowledge of Sarah Purser’s work, see her work in the Hugh Lane Gallery’s online collection here
Municipal Walker is developed by artist Lian Bell as part of Axis Ballymun’s Art Made By Walking research project.
Numbers limited and advance booking essential via Eventbrite. Places will be available to book via Eventbrite from 1 September.
This is an outdoor event.
