Bio

Tamao Oka is a Japanese-born artist-educator and storyteller based in Ireland. Originally trained as a pharmacist, her path has gently unfolded toward education, art, and the world of story. For over a decade, she has nurtured warm, imaginative spaces for young children through a baby and toddler group and a small Japanese children’s library. She received her Diploma in Steiner Waldorf Early Years Education in 2016, and its rhythms quietly shape her work. In schools, galleries, and libraries, she weaves handcraft, visual art, and storytelling into shared creative experiences. She also continues her exploration of narrative through storytelling study groups in Japan, while in Ireland she shares stories through kamishibai and puppet theatre—offering moments of connection across cultures, languages, and generations.
