We are delighted to share our Zine 2025 created by TY students with artist Michelle Hall.
Fantastic contributions were made by all throughout the course.
During our annual TY two week course taking place in January, students gain an insight into the operations of the gallery through illustrated discussions with gallery curators exploring exhibitions, collections, education and conservation as well as talks by artists, art historians, practical art workshops, collaborative projects and assignments.
The students discover more about some of the amazing artworks in the collection through Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) discussions, illustrated talks on social, artistic and political innovators such as Sarah Cecilia Harrison and Sarah Purser as well as exploring themes arising from the exhibition Brian Maguire La Grande Illusion among other artwork on display.
Assignments included creative writing inspired the Gallery’s collection while practical art workshops have included printmaking, sketching, creating a soundscape inspired by artworks and the gallery spaces and more. No prior practical art making experience is necessary.
Students do not have to be studying art or intending to study art to participate in our TY courses. What is required is curiosity and a willingness to participate and we are very grateful to all of the students for their active participation in discussions and enthusiastically completing their assignments!
We hope you enjoy delving into our TY Zine 2025 complied by artist Michelle Hall to gain an insight into the rich programme and incredible artwork made by the participating students.
